While CHF was rallying the emergency response for Haiti, we received communication from a church in a village east of Kathmandu, Nepal. The year-old church had been worshipping God together when a mob of ethnic religious leaders and their followers destroyed the cottage where the believers were meeting; physically beating them and running them out of their village. The mob threatened more violence if they ever gathered or spoke about Christ again.

Although a natural and easy response would be to permanently flee their village, the church continues to trust in God. The believers plan to return to the same village, even knowing the trouble they face, so that others may find new life through faith in Christ. CHF has provided funding for the church to rebuild their meeting place and continue meeting the needs in their community. We echo the words they expressed in their appeal, “It is time to stand together for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
