Journey to Hope - Uganda
Share/Save/Bookmark
Journey to Hope - UgandaCHF’s Uganda Mercy Network has fed, discipled, and empowered families in impoverished communities for nearly five years. Following is the story of one woman’s journey from desperation to hope.

Robinah’s story is a fantastic example of the positive change that can happen in a life through the care of a local church. Abandoned by her husband, Robinah was left alone, without a job or skills, to provide for her seven children. “Feeding my children was an uphill task”, she said. “We resorted to having one meal per day.” Some days they did not eat at all. In desperation she tried to plant a small garden, but the harvest was too long in coming to bank their hopes on. “We needed a divine intervention for us to survive.”
The people at her church heard about Robinah’s needs and began to care deeply for her by providing food. She said, “Worries of how I would survive were eroded because food was available on a weekly basis.” This simple act of kindness caused Robinah to rethink her relationship with God. She gave her life to Christ and began to experience a life filled with hope. Her husband saw the changes in her life and soon followed her example of faith. Now their family is restored.

Through the church’s vocational program, Robinah learned how to use a sewing machine and began to earn money. With her own sewing machine, she now has a tailoring business with a small staff and earns a livable wage for a woman in Uganda. Out of a desire to help other women, Robinah now serves faithfully in her church, caring for those in desperate need.

Robinah’s story is not uncommon. In CHF’s Mercy Networks around the world, mothers, fathers, and children gain life-changing hope through the compassionate ministry of the local churches in their communities.
