[Pacoima, Calif. – 03/12/10] – Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF), one of America’s top-ranked charities, is asking Americans to ‘Please, Remember Haiti’ and text ‘TENT’ to 85944, giving $10 toward waterproof tents for displaced Haitians during this season’s heavy rains. 1.2 million Haitians are in need of emergency shelter capable of withstanding the rainy season, according a U.N. report released yesterday. Hundreds of thousands are still living under bed sheets and tarpaulins either in mass camps or have been relocated back to their demolished properties. Sanitation and disease issues are raising concerns, as rain waters carry garbage and human waste throughout the city. |
