Charity’s Case – One Mother’s New Hope PDF Print E-mail

A young mother in Ghana named Charity needed help. Without the means to feed her children, she lived her life wondering where their next meal would come from. Life like this brings hopelessness and despair.

CHF’s Food Pak® Program provides local church volunteers with boxes of food to take directly to the homes of poor families in their communities. This strategy enables them to build relationships with the poor by meeting them at their point of need.

However, in CHF’s Mercy Network in Ghana the program was met with a unique challenge: humidity. In Ghana, the humidity is so dense that cardboard practically dissolves. This year, we adapted the program for climates like Ghana’s and introduced Food Pak® bags made from sturdy recycled plastic.

With Ghana’s Mercy Network pastors trained for Food Pak® home-delivery, it wasn’t long before they began to see the lives of poor families transformed.

For Charity, the Food Pak® Program has provided meals when there were none to be had. “Without the Food Pak®”, Charity declared, “my children would not eat a meal before going to school.” Her gratitude was evident when she exclaimed, “I thank God for showing a great love to me.”
Child with Spoon

Following the floods that devastated regions across Africa, CHF provided resettlement farming supplies to families in Ghana. Much needed seeds, fertilizer, tools, and plows allowed these families to replant and rebuild their lives after so much was lost.
