Crossroads Community Church is a new church in Austin, Texas. Led by Pastor Brady Trawick, the heart of ministry at Crossroads is to reach out to the poor communities directly surrounding the church. Mapping out the two zip codes surrounding the church, Crossroads has impact in the most populated and the most diverse zip code in the city, with fifty-three different nationalities represented in the local high school. Police say the area has the second highest crime rate in Austin, first in sexual assaults and motor vehicle theft and second in murders, robberies, aggravated assault and theft. Pastor Brady and his church hope to act as missionaries to the people in these communities. They desire to provide compassion that leads to lifechanging relationships. He asks each church member to befriend those they meet and look for opportunities to care for their needs. Recently, one of the church members connected Crossroads to a community event called “A Night Without Crime” sponsored by the Austin police department. With the help of CHF, Crossroads supplied refreshments for the event. Then, through relationships begun with needy families that night, church members have begun delivering CHF Food Paks to their homes on an ongoing basis. Pastor Brady tells us, “Many Food Paks were handed out to our neighbors that night. More importantly, relationships were brokered with several families in need.” With the passion of Pastor Brady and the provision of CHF Food Paks, the compassionate action of the church is changing the city of Austin.
