This Christmas, thousands of children and families in more than 30 cities across the United States will receive a nourishing CHF Food Pak®. While this may not be the traditional Christmas meal that you and I will enjoy, to these families it can be so much more. While delivering Food Paks recently, a team in our Chicago Mercy Network met a particularly notorious resident who they knew would likely never walk into a church. Her dangerous lifestyle had led to trouble with the law and her neighbors, but the Food Pak team saw a great opportunity to care for her and begin building a relationship with her. The following week they brought a Food Pak to her door. They were invited in and were able to hear her story, care for some of her needs, and share with her the life-changing message of the Gospel.
Another Mercy Network church has been building a relationship with a woman for three months. At their invitation, she started to attend church. She wept openly because she felt unworthy to even sit in a church. As they listened to her share about her many pains and sorrows, the church members encouraged, cared and prayed for her, knowing that only Jesus can wipe away every tear. While Food Paks meet the basic need of food and nourishment, they become so much more in the hands of a local church as they work to touch lives in deep and profound ways.
