A Look Back at the Children’s Champion Award Celebration Banquet in Chicago

Can you still hear the sound of the chimes? RESONATE was the theme for the Children’s Champion Award Celebration Banquet, honoring champions who have committed their lives to "catching the teardrops" of children in need.

On Saturday, April 16th, more than 400 guests committed to helping hungry children around the world, gathered together at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The evening was hosted by radio personality Cisco Cotto.

Children’s Hunger Fund recognized Florida State coaching legend, Bobby Bowden, for leadership development. His work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has helped impact many young lives. S. Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A, was recognized for his commitment to family and community. His work through WinShape Homes has helped provide hundreds of children with loving foster homes. Vladimir Vandich was honored for his work at Kobrin Camp in Belarus, helping kids recover from radiation exposure in the Chernobyl zone.

The Widow’s Mite Award went to Jill Sperling for her work to help others through the Sperling Brothers Foundation which she co-founded with family after the tragic death of her husband and brother-in-law. Our Nehemiah award was presented to Laura Wing for using her influence to help CHF give millions of toys to children in need.

Attendees committed to pray for the people Children’s Hunger Fund helps. Many guests gave financial gifts, enabling CHF to help even more children and families. The night closed with the sound of chimes, as guests demonstrated their support by ringing chimes throughout the rotunda—chimes that represent their commitment to RESONATE in the life of a needy child.
