Record number of everyday heroes wrap toys for needy kids
On Saturday, Dec. 3 at 9AM, Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) opened the doors of its new Global Distribution Center to host over 1,800 volunteers as they wrapped 70,000 cuddly toys. Those toys, generously donated by Ty Inc., will put smiles on the faces of needy children who would otherwise get nothing for Christmas.
CHF has hosted an annual Toy Wrap for twenty years, but this is a special one for CHF. The end of December marks CHF’s 20th anniversary as a nonprofit. This Toy Wrap is one of the first events in their new Global Distribution Center in Sylmar. The new facility doubles the warehouse space allowing CHF to reach more needy children internationally as well as here in the U.S.
“This year’s Toy Wrap is twice as exciting for CHF,” said Phillips. “Not only are we giving hope to children, but we are doing it from our new home.”
In addition, thousands of volunteers showed up at other CHF locations to wrap toys for kids in need. In the West, over 2,500 volunteers wrapped about 86,500 toys. In the Southwest, 650 volunteers wrapped 42,500 and in the Midwest, 740 volunteers wrapped over 36,000 toys. Combined, nearly 3,890 people reached out to give toys to about 165,000 needy children across America and around the world.

Christmas Joy
in a Little Toy
In hard times like these, when the ranks of the poor seem to keep growing, children can experience perhaps the worst effect of poverty; a loss of hope.
For this reason, nearly 4,000 caring volunteers gathered together in warehouses and gymnasiums across the nation to provide a wrapped toy for a child in need. The beautiful thing about this is that each of the 86,500 toys wrapped represents a needy child who will receive a gift and hear the message of God's love for all of His children.
To each one of our faithful volunteers, thank you! We could not do this without your generosity and hard work. You have brought hope to thousands of boys and girls this Christmas.
